Hemp Vs Marijuana. What's the Difference?

Hemp Vs Marijuana. What's the Difference?

There are many misconceptions about hemp, marijuana and CBD products. Whilst they are all derived from the same cannabis plant, each are differentiated by varying levels of THC - the intoxicating factor. By legal definition, hemp plants contain 0.3% THC or less whereas marijuana plants are the opposite, with usually over 0.3% THC.

Fortunately, CBD oil is derived from hemp which carries little THC, meaning that you cannot get high from using Love Hemp CBD products.

Let’s break down hemp vs marijuana.

Hemp

Hemp derives from the Cannabis plant, and is generally a slim and tall plant that can grow up to 20 feet. It thrives in most climates with very little care.

Hemp is made up of varieties in the cannabis plant that carries 0.3% THC or less. It’s generally non-intoxicating and utilised for different industries such as food, construction, beauty and fuel. Its ability to produce an astounding amount of crucial resources needed for human survival has made it a both important but controversial topic for a long time.

Over time, hemp varieties with high CBD  and low THC have been used to create products such as CBD oil, CBD capsules and even CBD beauty products for health and wellness.

Marijuana

Deriving from the same cannabis plant, Marijuana is made up of varieties that contain about 15-20% of THC.

It’s used for medicinal and recreational purposes. Given the high level of THC, it is intoxicating and has psychoactive properties. This provides the high or euphoria the recreational users usually chase but for medicinal users it has been said that it can help with a wide variety of ailments.

Marijuana plant is on the shorter side and resembles more of a bush. It is usually grown in a controlled environment that is warm and humid to maximise the psychoactive uses.

When it comes to legality, Marijuana is largely illegal everywhere with the exception of places like the USA that have legalised depending on the state and it has to be 0.3 % or less.
