Feeling More Tired Than Usual? Top Tips For Coping With Lockdown Fatigue

If you feel like you’re in a constant state of lockdown fatigue, you’re not alone. Living through a global health crisis is bound to take its toll on your emotions, and while lack of sleep could play a part, it’s more likely to be a build-up of mental exhaustion. After all, you’re probably juggling work, family life and housework - among everything else.

So it’s time to put yourself first this lockdown and to help, we’ve put together our top anti-fatigue tips to feel more energised:

Nail your sleep-wake cycle

It can be easier said than done, but it is important to try to wake up at the same time every day, regardless of how much sleep you get. Not only can this help you sleep (and feel) better in the long-term, but a good sleep can also improve your concentration and productivity.

Prioritise a daily routine

With everyone’s usual routines turned upside down, it’s easy to see why you might be feeling a little groggy. But structuring your day with small, achievable goals might be all you need to help you feel more alert.

For example, you could start by making your bed first thing on a morning. It might sound like a simple task, but it’s the first thing you’ll complete each day, and it will motivate you to do more. A tidy life = a tidy mind!

Get moving

When it comes to fighting fatigue, exercise is key. Not only is it good for your physical health, but your mental health will benefit from it too. Something as short as a five-minute walk in the fresh air can boost your mood, reduce anxiety and improve your self-esteem – especially if you’re working from home. Just remember to keep your body hydrated by taking water with you wherever you go.

Schedule regular catch-ups

Socialising can have a big impact on your emotional health and wellbeing. So it’s important to surround yourself with people who make you feel happy, whether that’s through FaceTime or on a socially distanced walk in-line with government guidance. You could also take this as an opportunity to connect with new people through virtual workouts or online yoga classes – there are plenty out there to choose from!

By implementing a few (or all) of these simple tips to your lifestyle, you’ll be well on your way to fighting fatigue and feeling good throughout lockdown, and beyond.
