Thinking of trying CBD? What you need to know

If you’re reading this, you’re probably interested in the wellness product of the moment. Hailed as a natural remedy, cannabidiol (CBD) is the must-have ingredient popping up everywhere, from your Instagram feed, to skincare products and confectionary.

But what exactly is it? And how do you take it? Here’s what you should know before trying CBD for the first time:

What is CBD?

CBD is short for Cannabidiol, one of hundreds of cannabinoids (a naturally occurring compound) found in the hemp plant, which is a variety of Cannabis. It’s completely legal and THC-free, meaning it is non-psychoactive and won’t get you ‘high’ - even in high doses. As such, many people choose CBD as a natural and safe product to incorporate in to their everyday lifestyle.

What is the difference between Full Spectrum, Broad Spectrum, and CBD Isolate?

In a nutshell, these terms are used to define the type of CBD in a particular product and understanding the difference is essential for CBD beginners.

Full Spectrum CBD

Unlike CBD Isolate, Full Spectrum CBD contains all the naturally occurring compounds found in the cannabis plant, including small amounts of THC  - which is illegal in the UK.

Broad Spectrum CBD

Broad Spectrum CBD is similar to full spectrum CBD in the sense that it contains many of the other naturally occurring compounds found in the hemp plant. However, all traces of THC have been completely removed, meaning that is completely legal and it can be safely ingested without any psychoactive effects.

CBD Isolate

CBD Isolate is the purest form of CBD, meaning all the other plant compounds and cannabinoids have been removed. It’s THC-free and often tasteless and odourless.

How can I take CBD?
